10 unique things to do in London this weekend

Copied to clipboard

Often cited as one of the most diverse, creative and culturally vibrant cities in the world, there’s never any shortage of things to do in London, whatever you’re into.

So why do our social lives often fall into such a routine?

If the weekend rolls around and you find yourself eating at the same chain restaurant on a Friday night or heading to your local pub for the third Sunday in a row, it’s time to break old habits and mix it up.

Whether you’re a graduate who has recently made the big move to the city or you’ve been working at your graduate job in London for a while, chances are you’ll want to know how you can make the most of your downtime.

Well, if you’re looking for unique things to do in London look no further – have we got the website for you!

Funzing is a community marketplace for local experiences in your city – providing a daily supply of unique and quirky experiences, talks, workshops and more.

Created by users and curated by their team, Funzing provides a platform where people can share their skills with others and really take full advantage of everything their city has to offer.

With so much to choose from, we asked Funzing’s Content Manager, Nick Gale, to share with us some of his favourite experiences on offer – and believe us when we say that he’s only scratching the surface with these amazing picks…

10 things to do in London this weekend

1. A Virtual Reality Quest With Your Mates

One of our most popular experiences will see you taking part in a fully immersive and cutting-edge Virtual Reality experience.

Using your swords and shields or bows and arrows, you can choose to fight with (or against!) your mates as you take part in a full hour of VR questing – and relax afterwards with a drink and a game of pool at the Lost Rivers GameBoxx arcade.

2. The Cauldron Immersive Cocktail Experience

This magic potion class will take you on an interactive journey that incorporates science and technology within the cocktail-making process.

A great event for anyone looking to get boozy in a magical fantasy environment, you’ll be making (and drinking!) delicious bubbling, smoking and colour-changing potions, all while donning a fetching robe and wand.

3. Dog Yoga

Yes – exactly what it says on the tin.

Perfect for those who love pups AND yoga, this event will allow you to bond with your canine by engaging in relaxing and invigorating yoga practice alongside your dog.

Those who don’t have one of their own are also encouraged to attend (and will be able to play with as many dogs as they like!)

Doga has also been said to increase mindfulness, trust and deep sleep, and reduce anxiety – so seriously, what are you waiting for?

4. Pop-Up Cinema

Our pop-up cinema club has loads of events running throughout the year, showing all kinds of movies, from thrillers to cult classics.

It’s a super cosy venue with different snacks depending on the movie – so whether a Top Gun Cheesy Film Night sounds like something you’d be interested in, or a Mean Girls with Popcorn & Beer Night is more up your alley, we’ve got you covered!

5. Introduction to Sushi: Rolling Forward

One for the foodies amongst you! We have a whole host of cookery classes on offer, but sushi-making is always one of the most popular.

You’ll learn how to make a broad selection of sushi using the freshest vegetables and fish, adopting a range of traditional and modern fusion-style recipes. The class can also be tailored to accommodate for vegetarians and vegans, so no one has to miss out.

6. The Ultimate Harry Potter London Tour

One for all the Harry Potter fans out there!

This awesome tour will take you on a magical 2-hour walk around London and provide you with all the Harry Potter info you could ever need.

Starting outside the Palace Theatre and ending up at Platform 9 ¾, you’ll get a fully immersive experience – and the chance to test your knowledge with some tricky Potter trivia along the way!

7. Interviews With Female Serial Killers

One of our most popular talks is by Paul Harrison, a retired police officer regarded as an expert on serial killer profiling.

He captures his audience by narrating his in-depth interviews with some of the world’s most notorious female serial killers.

There are still spaces on the March talk, and this fascinating event is one you really won’t want to miss.

8. Nobody’s Watching: Silent Disco Dance Workout

If you’re into having fun whilst keeping fit, this is the one for you!

This workout will allow you to go wild on the dancefloor in a comfortable environment with dimmed lights, plenty of room to move and a seriously uplifting playlist.

Dance the night away at an experience that’s guaranteed to end your working week on a high.

9. Dating Against Humanity

One of our most popular dating-based experiences at the moment.

Combining the game Cards Against Humanity with a fluid speed dating system, this is perfect for anyone with a vulgar (and slightly twisted) sense of humour looking to meet new people in London.

10. Wood Turning Workshop

One of our more practical events, this is perfect for anyone into DIY, or simply looking to learn a new skill.

The experience is run by an experienced wood-turner and includes everything you need to make something you can be proud of.

You’ll even be able to take your homemade bowl home with you!

With such an array of experiences on offer, why not mix up your social schedule and try something new with a friend, a new colleague or a partner this weekend?
