What is PinkNews' Futures event?

The PinkNews Futures Event is an online careers conference for LGBT+ young people. To help students, school leavers and recent graduates looking to explore the next steps in their career online from the 26th to 30th of October. The week will consist of sessions with inspirational speakers, coaching sessions, skills workshops and a careers fair lined up. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet your role models, boost your employability, and find out how you can bring your authentic self to work!

Give a Grad a Go are delighted to announce that we will be guest speakers at PinkNews Future’s this year.

At Give a Grad a Go, we have been working on our diversity and inclusion promise, reviewing the way we work to ensure that we are inclusive in all areas of the company, from our internal process, to the messages we send out and the content we share.

We have been looking at what diversity in the workplace means and how we can support equality and diversity in the workplace.

This is why we are honoured to be invited to speak at PinkNews Futures and share our career advice and success stories with their network of students, graduates and job-seekers.

PinksNews is the brand for the global LGBTQ+ community and the next generation with a mission to inform, inspire change and empower people to be themselves.

This year they are hosting an exciting career’s event ‘PinkNews Futures’ which we are delighted to be a part of.

The PinkNews Futures Event is an online careers conference for LGBT+ young people.

To help students, school leavers and recent graduates looking to explore the next steps in their career.

The week consisted of sessions with inspirational speakers, coaching sessions, skills workshops and careers fairs.

It was a fantastic opportunity to meet role models, boost employability, and find out how to bring your authentic self to work!

Our Head of People and Operations, Claire Donaldson, spoke on a session about “How to make yourself employable”.

This was followed by our Key Account Manager, Sam Hickson, who spoke in the “Coming Out at Work session”, this session goes into experiences of coming out at work and advice on starting a new job where you might not know anybody. Watch the webinar below!

Claire shares why she took part:

“I felt really honoured to be able to take part in PinkNews Future’s event and be on the panel for ‘Make Yourself Employable’. PinkNews are a fantastic digital publisher who are doing incredible things for the LGBT+ community and I felt really lucky to be able to take part.

It’s such a difficult time for anyone looking to find a job in this current climate and I really hope that with our support and advice we can ensure people feel empowered, confident and have the belief in themselves to really tackle the job hunt.”

Sam explains why he got involved in PinkNews Futures:

“Coming out day is in October so it’s very much something that’s in topic now and something I’ve been thinking about. Give a Grad a Go’s focus is to launch the careers of young people and graduates across the UK and other parts of the world.

In my opinion, the job and industry could seem perfect but you won’t love your job and reach your full potential if you don’t feel comfortable being who you are and being your true self in your workplace.

I was really happy to be involved in a panel which is all about helping people to be their true selves in the workplace and to feel personally happier but also so they can really thrive in their chosen field.

I’m also really happy to be working with PinkNews because they are a publication that I have personally read and followed for a number of years so it’s really exciting to be involved with them. They have such a big reach around the UK and have already helped so many people.”
