Job Description - SEO & SGO Manager
As the SEO & SGO (Search and Generative Optimisation) Manager, you'll be responsible for boosting visibility across both traditional search engines and the next wave of AI-driven search tools - think Google AI Overviews, Bing Copilot, ChatGPT and beyond.
You'll lead from the front and will be pivotal in shaping strategy, implementing improvements, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with content, marketing and sales teams. From meta tags to structured data and conversational AI optimisation, you'll ensure the company's content is discoverable, credible and driving high-quality leads.

Key Responsibilities - SEO Manager
In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Own the SEO roadmap and drive sustainable organic growth
- Conduct keyword research, competitor audits, and technical deep dives
- Optimise on-page elements (metadata, headings, internal linking, etc.)
- Improve technical SEO (site speed, indexation, schema, etc.)
- Monitor algorithm updates and adapt accordingly
- Optimise content to appear in AI-powered search results (Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, etc.)
- Implement schema markup, FAQ structures, and topic clustering
- Collaborate with content creators to ensure content is AI-friendly and authoritative
- Track AI visibility and lead generation from AI-driven channels
- Partner with the Content Team to optimise articles, guides, and landing pages
- Integrate SEO/SGO insights into email journeys and campaigns with the Marketing Team
- Share performance insights with sales and marketing to support conversion and retention goals
For this role, you will need:
- 3+ years' experience in SEO, growth, or digital marketing
- Strong technical and on-page SEO skills
- Hands-on experience implementing SEO strategies (not just advising!)
- Understanding of Search Generative Optimisation (SGO) and AI search trends
- Proficiency with SEO tools (Google Analytics, GSC, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog)
- Data-driven mindset with solid CRO and A/B testing knowledge
- Great communication skills - you'll be working closely with creative teams
- International SEO or multilingual experience
- Background in financial services, property, or international payments
- Familiarity with Dotdigital or CRM systems
- Experience training others in SEO/SGO best practices
- £40,000 - £45,000 DOE
