Association of Foreign Banks (AFB) was established in 1947 to be the voice of foreign banks in the UK. Foreign banks oversee over half of all regulated capital in the UK and significantly underpin UK GDP. 

AFB represents the interests of foreign banks in the UK to stakeholders, including HM Treasury and regulators. It has around 170 banks in its membership, representing c75% of the market, including GSIBs such as Citigroup, Bank of China, JP Morgan, and BNP Paribas.

Job description - Marketing Intern (6 Months)

Location: Hybrid – in City of London office at least 3 days per week (This arrangement is flexible and depends on the needs of the organisation and each staff member)

Salary: London Living Wage (£28,808 pro rata)

Length of Contract: 6-month term, with the possibility of extension

Work with AFB’s Senior Marketing Associate to develop and implement the marketing and communications strategy and maximise the impact and quality of external communications, social media, CRM, and website.

 

Key responsibilities - Marketing Intern (6 Months)

In this Marketing Internship at AFB, you can expect to:

  • Assist (and lead) in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns, using a variety of marketing platforms (Mailchimp, LinkedIn).
  • Work across the marketing mix to communicate with the AFB membership, including content production, website management, email promotions, social media and events.
  • Help to schedule planned communications and implement plans.
  • Assist in the creation of new processes and efficiencies through data-driven insights (Google Analytics, Email performance analysis, webpage analysis, CRM management, etc).
  • Assist in the management and update AFB website to ensure all relevant and current content is signposted clearly to visitors and ensure information is regularly updated.
  • Create marketing plans for upcoming AFB flagship events (such as Financial Crime Compliance Conference or Annual Banquet).
  • Support the design and production of printed marketing materials such as brochures and banners for AFB events and training.
  • Support the wider team at AFB events as and when needed.
  • Collaborate across the team on larger cross-organisation projects.
  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks (e.g. creating templates on MS Word/PowerPoint).

 

Job requirements - Marketing Intern (6 Months)

For this Marketing Intern role, we are looking for:

  • A recent degree or post-graduate degree (or relevant qualification) in marketing, communications or similar discipline.
  • IT proficiency – experience using Microsoft Office such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Good understanding of marketing principles and the ability to collaborate effectively within the team.
  • A keen interest in the Financial Services or Banking sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with willingness to work across departments within the team.
  • Strong attention to detail, very organised, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work on, and internally prioritise, multiple projects.
  • An interest in gaining skills in marketing, communications, account management more widely.
  • An eager and fast learner, willing to make an impact in a small team.
