Job description -  Accounting Assistant
 
As a Graduate Accounting Assistant, you will support the wider finance team across a wide range of tasks. This will range from financial reporting and audit coordination to management reporting and day-to-day accounting administration. You'll be working in a highly regulated environment, gaining exposure to complex legal structures including Namecos, LLPs, and Corporate Members.
 
You'll also develop your understanding of regulatory frameworks, Lloyd's market operations, and bespoke financial systems—all while building the foundation for a long-term career in insurance accounting and financial services.
 
Key responsibilities - Graduate Accounts Assistant
In this Graduate Accounting Assistant role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Assist in meeting financial reporting obligations for Namecos and LLPs operating in the Lloyd's market.
  • Support the preparation of Holding Company and Corporate Partner financial statements.
  • Assist with management reporting for Lloyd's Corporate participants.
  • Carry out daily administrative and accounting duties to support the operations department
  • Provide assistance with external audits, including coordination and documentation.
  • Keep abreast of changes to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and ensure compliance where relevant.
  • Participate in internal and external working groups and represent Nomina plc as directed by your Line Manager.
  • Develop familiarity with legislation and Lloyd's reporting requirements applicable to Corporate Members.
What we're looking for - Graduate Accounts Assistant
  • A 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in accounting, finance, or a related numerate subject.
  • Previous experience in insurance accounting is a plus but not essential.
  • Ability to prepare bank reconciliations and journal postings to Trial Balance level.
  • Strong Excel skills, including experience working with large datasets using formulas such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial data handling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work to tight and changing deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks effectively.
  • General computer literacy and confidence in learning new systems - full training on bespoke software will be provided.

  • £32,000 - £35,000 starting salary (dependent on experience).
