👉 Job description

SOUTH FACING’S COMMUNITY-BUILDER

Strategist. Connector. Storyteller. Content-obsessed.

Your job, in its essence, is to invite people into the South Facing world and give them a reason to stay. Through brilliant content, smart strategy and genuine relationships, you’ll help grow our digital footprint, reputation and business - both for us and for our clients.

We’re building a better kind of communications agency for the built environment, one powered by values, creativity and strategic clarity. We champion the people and ideas changing how property, design and infrastructure shape the world. Now, we’re looking for someone to help us grow with intelligence, curiosity and creative confidence.

This is a role for someone who thrives on content, connection and momentum. You’ll be part brand-builder, part campaign manager, part community host, and equally comfortable taking a brief, adapting to a client’s tone of voice, or leading the charge on our own channels.

You’ll be the heartbeat of South Facing’s content and community - crafting stories, creating digital and marketing campaigns, growing our audience, and jumping in to support on client accounts. If you know when to follow instructions to the letter and when to take the lead, we want to hear from you.

What you'll do - Community Builder

Strategic growth & community building

  • Shape and drive a smart, values-led business development strategy that targets South Facing’s ideal clients and reaches beyond the built environment.
  • Build and maintain a replicable system for turning internal and external conversations into audience-building content and opportunity.
  • Lead digital engagement: following relevant contacts, starting meaningful conversations, staying active and visible in the right circles.
  • Host and help organise events that bring our growing community to life - from roundtables and talks to breakfasts and celebrations.
  • Spot gaps in the market where South Facing’s offer could make a real difference - and help shape our positioning accordingly.
  • Track opportunities, industry movements and sector trends, turning insights into action for both South Facing and our clients.

Content strategy & campaign direction

  • Be the driver of South Facing’s content - building recognition and connection through consistently excellent storytelling.
  • Design and execute a clear marketing and social media strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, all digital platforms and in person - with style, tone and clarity.
  • Plan and launch mini-campaigns that showcase our thinking, our people, our wins, our values, and our clients.
  • Develop editorial themes and rhythm to give shape and momentum to our content calendar.
  • Bring rigour and pace to content development - from concept and scripting to publishing and reporting.
  • Maintain a high standard across all touchpoints: everything we put out should look and feel South Facing.

Client-facing platform support

  • Flexibly support client accounts when needed - including managing their social platforms, drafting content, and reporting on impact.
  • Liaise confidently with clients, journalists, collaborators and industry contacts at all levels.
  • Work to a clear brief and deliver excellent content in a variety of tones of voice.
  • Know when to raise your hand and ask for help - and when to trust your instincts and take ownership.
  • Join the dots between platforms, people, purpose and performance.

What you bring - Community Builder

  • A community-first mindset and the ability to generate, shape and deliver great stories - quickly and thoughtfully.
  • A genuine passion for strategy, ideas, digital culture and the power of communication to build businesses.
  • A systems thinker with a structured approach - you like making things work better, smarter, easier.
  • Confidence in switching between internal work and external-facing client support, adapting tone and tempo accordingly.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills — whether it’s a snappy caption, thoughtful post, or campaign overview.
  • Social media savvy, with experience creating and running content across platforms (especially LinkedIn and Instagram).
  • A natural ability to communicate and relationship-building skills - being happy to reach out, follow up, introduce, host or connect
  • An eye for detail, aesthetic, consistency and brand tone — both for us and our clients.
  • Curiosity about urban life, design, cities, policy, construction and the human stories behind technical delivery.
  • Comfortable working remotely and independently, but thrives on collaboration and feedback.

Culture & benefits - Community Builder

Our team works remotely and across London, regrouping on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to share ideas and support each other. We regularly attend industry events, client visits and collaborative projects - and we’re always up for making new connections in interesting places. Attending events is a huge part of the built environment industry and is the best and fastest way to get known. That will mean sacrificing a sleep-in for an early morning breakfast and an evening on the couch for after-work drinks or a talk, from time to time. Some travel will be required.

This is a full-time role, with a salary of £30,500. We’re open to flexible arrangements for the right person. As we grow, there’ll be opportunities to shape new offers, build your own campaigns, and potentially take a stake in the business in future. We’re looking for people who want to grow with us, not just fill a role.

How to apply

Apply with your CV and include a few examples of your best work in your cover letter. Something more creative would be preferred - we’d love to see evidence of your ability to write, think strategically, build audiences and grow business with integrity.
