Being leaders in the technology space, the team largely consisted of employees from a technology background.
Verizon wanted to diversify their junior talent pool by reaching out to a broader range of graduates, welcoming new perspectives and innovation into the business.
The goal was to open doors for more graduates from a greater variety of degree and experience backgrounds. Verizon wanted to see graduates for their personality, soft skills, and attitude.
To achieve this, we’ve connected Verizon with a unique array of graduates, many of whom went on to become future leaders of the company.
Working with us since 2019, Verizon has hired over 80 contractors to enhance their teams through their Early in Career Programme.
The programme provided tailored mentoring to a diverse pool of new hires, bridging their journey into the tech industry and setting them up smoothly for success.
The hiring process is simple and empathetic: no long-winded assessment centres, interview tests, or hundreds of applicants fighting it out.
Our process with Verizon is about quality and accuracy. We shortlist a small, exclusive batch of candidates who show the dedication, drive, and ambition they are looking for, and candidates get to interview directly with hiring managers 1:1.
Many of Verizon’s hires came from non-tech backgrounds, such as English, Politics, and Philosophy, bringing new voices to the conversations at Verizon.
We’ve placed graduates across a wide range of teams, including Sales, HR, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, and Project Management. This has significantly broadened and diversified Verizon’s talent pool across the entire organisation.
Next-gen talent has a fast impact. Our graduate placements became future leaders at Verizon, including Account Directors, Global Account Directors, Solutions Architects, Senior Client Executives, Accounting Specialists, and Senior Accounting Analysts.
We’ve also been able to use our database to help Verizon consolidate its gender inclusivity. Since 2020, our placements have been 43% men and 57% women, encouraging equal gender opportunities across the business.
This focus on gender diversity has already secured results: one of our graduate placements was recognised as Best Sales Newcomer at the 2022 Women in Sales Awards. This not only highlights the impact of contributions by women within Verizon, but also acts as an inspiration for other young women starting out in the tech industry.
By prioritizing an inclusive talent pool, Verizon is building a more open workplace, and one that is stronger and more efficient because of it.
