Job description – R&D Consultant In this R&D Consultant role in London, you’ll will be undertaking the firm’s internal technical training program to have a strong understanding of R&D.
Through research and client workshops you will gain sector knowledge and identify R&D activities, detailing any comparable/routine technologies used. After gaining some experience assisting other consultants within the team with repeat claims, you will progress from shadowing to taking the financial or technical lead on upcoming repeat claims, to further your experience and understanding of the reports and claims they produce for clients.

Key responsibilities - R&D Analyst In this R&D Consultant job, your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying qualifying R&D activities and expenditure through participation in technical & financial discussions with clients for new and repeat claims
- Leading R&D discussions/workshops on clients, providing a clear explanation of the definition of R&D for tax purposes and discussing in detail, sector specific examples of qualifying activities
- Managing client & stakeholder relationships both internally and externally
- Proactively demonstrating that you can identify risks in claims
- Compiling technical & financial project reports to illustrate eligible activities to support R&D claims with strong attention to detail and first-time accuracy
- Project managing day to day aspects of the claims, setting timescales for delivery, talking confidently with clients to explain various judgements made in claim compilation and their implication
- Formulating an initial response to defending claims in the event of HMRC R&D enquiries
- Developing your own knowledge and skills in R&D tax relief and other related issues, to keep technical knowledge fully up to date in this evolving landscape
Job requirements - R&D Consultant For this R&D Consultant job, the company are looking for:
- 2:1 from University or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of commercial experience – prior knowledge of the R&D incentives and/or related innovation funding from outside the sector is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment that thrives on sharing ideas and feedback.
- The ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely in both written and verbal form.
- A natural problem-solving mindset: the ability to think critically and conduct your own research around a given topic.
- A genuine interest and curiosity in Software, Science, Technology & Innovation.

- The ability to actively listen to others and ensure that they are understood.
