Overview - Account Executive

Built Environment Communications Account Executive

Working alongside developers, architects, engineers and other industry specialists, we help establish better-connected networks for our clients and position them to share knowledge that pushes the industry forward. We achieve this for our clients by developing thought-leadership, media campaigns, public speaking, strategic network building, digital and community engagement based on their ideas, solutions, and action.

You will work with our team across various clients and businesses to think creatively and take decisive actions. You will learn how to read the industry, and the changing policies and challenges within it, and you will quickly grasp how to raise the voices of those providing the best solutions. To do this successfully, you will coordinate priorities for each account, considering each business and personality with intelligence and insight. By generating opportunities for clients through writing, speaking, networking and communications you will hold a critical role for each client team.

If you are excited about the opportunity to make a difference in the built environment industry in a hands-on small business punching way above its weight, we want to hear from you.

We would like you to send either your CV, a cover letter, or something more creative if you’re so inclined (or all 3). You can upload these as supporting documents in the application process. For this role, we would like to see examples of any deep-thinking analysis work or creative writing you’ve done, if you have this. From there, we’ll respond with further questions, or arrange an interview.

Responsibilities - Account Executive

  • Account management assistance
You will help prepare for meetings, deliver project work, writing tasks and more generally assist in delivering a range of creative solutions for our clients. This will include keeping on top of diaries, writing press releases, pitches and briefs for journalists, suggesting events to clients, and other tasks.
  • Copywriting, editing and desk research
You'll bring ideas and initiatives to the team consultation and develop plans for execution.  You'll develop news angles, stories and pitches to further the clients profile, and will also engage in turning clients ideas and projects into communications pieces for the media.

  • Strengthening relationships
Manage a high level of client interaction and build relationships by networking strategically within the industry; this will help you find the right people to help you, or to collaborate with creative ideas.

  • Developing good habits
You'll scan for PR coverage, package any relevant news or information for clients and manage reporting. You'll also keep abreast of new industry developments - ideas, solutions, announcements, trends and opportunities for both clients and South Facing.

  • Turn your hand to other tasks
We’re a small team, so there may be requirements outside these listed above that crop up from time to time. We highly value those who can pitch in and help out, and we recognise when team members contribute above and beyond. We’d love to know what skills you hold that can be harnessed to accelerate the business and your responsibilities within it.

Some activities require taking on responsibilities out-of-hours such as networking, and some travel may be required at times.

Who we're looking for - Account Executive

You will be deeply interested in making the world a better place through the impact that design, property and sustainability policy can make. You will attend events within and outside of business hours, listen to a plethora of informed voices, and start to formulate your own understanding of the relationships and ideas shared within the industry. By doing this, you will then push to influence how the industry listens to those we work with. You need to be hungry to learn, apt at connecting ideas together, and willing to execute strategies, projects and tasks to see as much success as possible for our clients and teams.

This is a role for someone looking for a challenge and to benefit directly from developing their business and client management skills. A working understanding and keen interest in the built environment is necessary. Capability in creative thinking and application, multi-task management, copywriting and practical solutions is a must. We encourage individuals of all backgrounds, including parents returning to the workforce, to apply and bring their unique perspectives and time efficiency to our team.

Your attitude will matter above all else. We’re looking for a sharp shooter who’s a total team player. We’re a small team and looking to grow nationally and internationally - that cannot happen in a healthy, sustainable way unless we work together and efficiently. We need a ‘can do’ attitude from someone who can listen, learn, make connections with intelligence and deliver tasks in a resource-effective way.

Team Culture - Account Executive

Our team largely works remotely, however on Wednesdays we work together in Tower Bridge in London to regroup, help, and learn from each other. Often we’re out-and-about visiting clients, project sites or networking and industry events. Sometimes longer-distance travel is required, but this can be shared between the team. With the right attitude, supportive processes in place and delivery of core business needs, we’re happy to encourage our team working internationally when possible.

Perks - Account Executive

We’re currently developing policies for international remote working and staff rewards for business development. Salary sits at £30,500 per annum pro rata at 3 days per week initially, working in a hybrid situation of in-person (to help you learn with team mates and get a sense of best practice) as well as remotely (with access to London). This can be scaled up to 5 days upon the Director’s assessment of good working relationships, client assistance skills and contribution to team culture.

Opportunity to equity in South Facing will be available once the business is well-established to employees who demonstrate good decision making processes, act with business sense, who contribute to building a brilliant culture, help our client’s businesses thrive and foster our own organisational growth.
