Forestry England Graduate Leadership Programme
  • Location: Thetford (Norfolk), Chilterns Office (Buckinghamshire), or Bedgebury National Pinetum (Kent)
  • Salary: £32,089 per annum
  • Start Date: Summer - Autumn 2025

We are part of the Forestry Commission and we manage the nation’s forests and all the associated commercial and business interests. We look after the largest landholding in the country with over 1,500 forests, housing, and varied recreational areas.
 
Job description - Graduate Scheme (Forestry England) 
We are looking for the next future leaders to start their journey on our two-year graduate programme starting summer or early autumn 2025.
 
Our graduates manage or support projects in an operational forestry environment, such as delivering woodland creation, planning forestry operations, recreation opportunity scoping, and community consultation. There will be lots of opportunities to work outdoors.
  • Year one - You will be placed in the East Forest district, with the main district office being in Thetford. You will focus on learning about the different functional departments (e.g. operations, planning, environment, recreation) and gain hands on experience.
  • Year two - You will join the National Operations Team, based in Bristol, and have the opportunity to develop policy, scope new projects, and support delivery of nation-wide programmes.
Job requirements - Graduate Scheme (Forestry England)
  • A 2:1 degree or higher (or international equivalent), or you are in your final year of university and expect to achieve a 2:1 grade or higher by the time you start the programme.
  • A full current driving licence (for use in the UK), as your role will involve travel to sites (forests, visitor centres and other offices), many of which are in rural locations and not served by public transport.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • The most crucial factor is your enthusiasm and desire to get involved, work together, be adventurous and demonstrate your interest in Forestry England and our values.
